La Barrosa in Spain became our choice for a Christmas break in 2014.  We were looking for somewhere to just put our feet us and not do too much after nearly a year of traveling.

It was the perfect place to spend a European winter…mild weather averaging about 18 every day.  La Barrosa has some of the most beautiful beaches, long stretches of  white sands and many walking paths along the coast. Of course facing west this also meant stunning sunsets, we spent many of our evenings sitting in a cafe along the beach enjoying a drink and taking in the view.

La Barrosa has basic supermarkets but is situated close to Chiclana de la Fonterra (about 15 minutes on the bus)  where you can find a market and a huge variety of shops if you need to go shopping.

There are also  regular buses there where you can go that connect to many  places nearby that are perfect to explore for day trips… Cadiz, Gibraltar , Jerez to name a few…. actually there were so many we ran out of time to do all the things we had planned….but there is always next time :-).
