MIA Hostel is a fairly new hostel run by three friends. What we liked about it was that the boys drew on their own experiences when they were setting up the hostel. They say they took inspiration from a Lisbon Hostel, wanting a small friendly hostel.
The hostel rooms were well set up with one room having an ensuite. There are lockers available as well so you can feel secure in leaving your things behind while you explore.
We chose the twin room which shared a bathroom, generally I am a bit wary of shared bathrooms but this was really clean and just across the hallway from our room.
The room itself was a decent size so we had room to spread out, the only downfall for us was the bottom bunk did not have a lot of light so you couldn’t read in bed.
When we commented how good the beds were it was interesting to discover that before they bought the mattresses they tried them for comfort. It’s the little things which make the big difference.
They also have a stunning double room which has it’s own bathroom if you want more privacy.
There are some great areas to chill, a lounge area with plenty of room to relax and meet other travellers.
Upstairs there are two areas one on the first floor where there is seating available. There is also a rooftop area where there is a bar area being made and seating, a clothes line and stunning views out to the coast.
Breakfast is provided every morning in the kitchen, you help yourself and while it is basic it is plentiful.
The hostel is not too large so that we still get the personal touch which is one reason why we love to stay in hostels especially small ones. There are also social bbqs and other events held so you can meet others.
The hostel is also just around the corner from a car hire place if you want to explore further afield, you can hire a car and base yourself there for a few days.
The guys have plenty of local knowledge and gave us some great tips on where to eat, what to see and also some great rides nearby.
We really enjoyed our stay at MIA and highly recommend it, personally we would not stay in Tangiers and come straight here to give yourself time to ease into Morocco.
