Situated only 25 kms from Luxembourg City makes Larochette is an ideal place to spend a morning exploring.
Larochette Castle
The highlight is Larochette Castle, which looks imposing on the hill overlooking the village. There is a road that winds up the hill if you want to drive with plenty of parking or you can walk up one of the paths leading from the village.
While the castle is mainly in ruis but are complete enough to get an idea of what it looked like. One part of the castle has been restored and they have some paintings showing what the rooms would have been used for in the past which make it come alive a little.
The grounds surrounding it have lovely gardens and when we visited had lots of plant sin flower. You also get great views across the valley.
There is also a café on site which has basic food but also plenty of seating if you want to bring your own food and drink.
The village has a pretty little church, cafes and a large square with seats where you can enjoy a picnic.
