Our Packing Lists

P1060342 (2)
This is The Princess packed with all of our gear

I have been asked by a few people to post our packing list of what we are taking. We have been carryon travellers for quite a few years now and really enjoy the freedom of being able to take our bags onto a plane and walk straight out once we clear immigration and customs not having to wait for luggage. It also makes it easier to get around using local transport and up and down stairs of accommodation.

We are basing our packing on what we have taken on our previous travels, although the challenge is we will be going through areas where it is a bit cooler than others so will need to have both summer and winter clothing.

We both have Eagle Creek Portable Lockers

  1. That’s a fantastic list. I’m not sure my daughters would be able to pack that light for a weekend away, let alone the huge adventure you two are going on.

  2. Michele, I think the list is fine, I would only take 2 bra and 1 more pair knickers. Also, no jeanes, they take too long to dry as do all things cotton, if you are wearing them for warmth cord is better.not sure why all the socks but again I would probably take only 2 of each, and add a skirt. I find as I get older they are better in the humidity and heat of Asia. Taking less is good in Europe but in Asia not so well, I am an xxxl in pants in Vietnam! Good luck with it all, as we all know when packing, we can never get it perfect, so aim for flexibility.

    • The jeans are for warmth and for on a bike more than anything once we hit Hanoi it will be still cold 🙁 Good point about sock knickers and bras might rethink it 🙂 Luckily some of my tops can be dresses or tops depending on how I feel and the weather 🙂

  3. I always carry jeans. Would not go anywhere without them! I hardly ever wash them so drying time is not a huge issue! Lol. This is a great list. I had a trial pack of my 40 litre bag this week – big success! Dying to leave – just 18 sleeps!!!
